TownSq is 3 years old!

We’ve got a great tune for you to wash your hands to today: Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Town Square, happy birthday to you!

Today is our third birthday, and while we may only just be out of our toddling years, our incredible team are racing ahead supporting thousands of entrepreneurs and creating a huge impact on our communities. We are so proud of them, and so excited to share what they have been up to and what the future holds.

In addition to our successful hubs in Wrexham and Bicester, we are really excited to be adding three new spaces to our community: Bognor Regis, Chester and Rhyl. These spaces will be up and running soon, ready to serve their local communities with coworking, events and support programmes.

If you are interested in becoming involved – as a founder member or by providing support – please get in touch.

It has been a challenging year, so we have reimagined our membership packages to make sure they are affordable, accessible and flexible, as entrepreneurship and working closer to home becomes a necessity for so many more people.

£99 membership. We have been really focused on how we make coworking more inclusive. To do this, we have created a new package that provides a space to work from every day, with ultra fast WiFi and access to a community of like-minded people.

Headspace membership. Although working from home has been a real positive for many, sometimes the distractions and temptations to procrastinate can make it too difficult to give your work the focus it needs. For £20, you can have your own space for the day, whenever you need it.

Pro membership. For those entrepreneurs who want their own space completely, pro membership means a fixed desk – a home away from home.

All our memberships can be paused at any time. Particularly in the current climate, we want to avoid tying entrepreneurs into long-term contracts and instead, give them control and flexibility.

Online supportOur team made sure that all our support kept going even when our spaces could no longer open. We have held hundreds of support sessions, at all times of day, for all kinds of entrepreneurs, about all kinds of topics, and we intend to keep this up!

We want to provide our members with as much value as we can, and so we are bringing two whole new areas of expertise into the Town Square family: virtual administration, and independent coffee shop operators.

Town Square are acquiring WIZE Virtual Admin, who provide award-winning customer service to a wide network of SMEs and freelancers. By joining the TownSq team, they will be able to help our members to focus on what they do best, while we back at HQ take control of their back office administration, their payroll, call handling, minute taking – whatever they need.

Boot the Commute has already saved over 5,000,000 miles of drive time since we went live in late September. 85% of people say they don’t want to go back to long commutes and the way things were before. If you haven’t already taken the quiz, you can see how your commute compares now at bootthecommute.co.uk.

Bank Street and King Street – independent coffee shops in Wrexham – are joining the Town Square team to bring you Town Square Social. Places to connect over a coffee have always been at the heart of our spaces, and so we are creating a new kind of service that will invest into its local communities and create a place for ideas in town centres up and down the UK.

Making a difference

B CorpThis year, Town Square became a B Corp. As a certified B Corporation, our standards of social and environmental performance, public transparency and legal accountably to balance profit and purpose are independently verified. We are really proud of this as we feel it strongly reflects our values and ambitions as a company.

UnLtdThis year we joined the UnLtd future pioneers programme. And it’s really helped us to focus on how through our spaces, we can deliver the kind of system change that we want to bring to communities across the UK.

UK Coworking AssemblyWe are founding the UK Coworking Assembly in order to give the industry a voice and further support this movement. We are looking for board members with experience in coworking, and supporters who are passionate about the benefits of coworking, so if this is you, let us know.

Coworking University Module. This year, we have collaborated with Wrexham Glyndwr University to create what we believe is the world’s first coworking module in a university course.
