Coworking and enterprise Hub, Costigan’s is now open for business after being officially launched by Cllr Hugh Evans OBE, Leader of Denbighshire County Council and Lead Member for the Economy.

With the initial opening being delayed due to COVID, The Hub on Bodfor street in Rhyl was launched on Wednesday (02 March) at an event attended by Council leadership, as well as a number of founding members who are already based at the space.

Denbighshire County Council has transformed the building from a semi-derelict pub into a thriving new coworking space and coffee shop, thanks to funding through the Welsh Government’s Transforming Town’s programme and European Social Fund.

With a top-class cafe, as well as desk space and high-speed internet access, Costigan’s is able to be that ‘third place’, with the comfort and style of a barista-led coffee house, but the facilities of a professional workspace.

The Hub will look to further grow and support a community of founders, freelancers and entrepreneurs – creating jobs and boosting the local economy. However, it’s also home to a number of local workers; people who are employed by other companies, but are seeking to boot the commute and work closer to home.

Hub members are supported through a number of programs, including after-hours startup clubs, fast-growth accelerators, workshops and one-to-one mentorship. The space also offers funded business-development packages worth up to £5,000 as well as support accessing the Town Centre Entrepreneurship Fund grant of up to £10,000.

Community Manager for Costigan’s, Owain Colwell said: “We’re excited to finally officially launch this fantastic space that will make such a difference to those who live and work in the area.

“Coworking and remote working is not just about providing desk space and internet access, it’s about creating a community of supportive individuals and teams, who can share experiences and help each other grow.”

“Spaces like Costigan’s are easy to access and provide all the support and facilities people need to get ahead, be it growing their own business, or just grabbing some headspace to get their work done.”
